Dragonfly

My favorite animal in the world is a Dragonfly. I named my band Dragonfly Ecstatic Dance Band and love to share this text with you about the symbolic meaning of a Dragonfly.

"In almost every part of the world, the Dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, adaptability and self-realization. The change often referred to stems from mental and emotional maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life. The Dragonfly's flowing flight over water represents an act of going beyond what is on the surface and looking at the deeper implications and aspects of life. The Dragonfly moves with elegance and grace. The Dragonfly is iridescent on both its wings and body. Iridescence shows in different colors depending on the angle and how the light hits it. The magical quality of iridescence is also associated with the discovery of one's own abilities by exposing the real self and removing the doubts one raises about his / her own sense of identity. The Dragonfly normally lives most of its life as a nymph or an immature. He only flies a fraction of his life. This symbolizes and illustrates the virtue of life in the moment and life to the fullest. Living in the moment makes you aware of who you are, where you are, what you do, what you want, what you don't do, and to make informed choices moment by moment. The Dragonfly's eyes symbolize the unrestrained vision of the mind and the ability to see beyond the limitations of the human self. Dragonflies can be a symbol of self that comes with maturity. They can symbolize beyond self-created illusions that limit our growth and our ability to change. The Dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, a new beginning and change for many centuries. The Dragonfly means hope, change and love. (Source: dragonflytransitions.com)"
